For Numbers it does not make a difference if the cell is in the same or in a different table.

Let's say you want the value from the right table B2 in the left table B2.

Then go in B2 and type "=", now this box will open. Then pick B2 in Test 2 (right table)

The finished link will show table name and cell name.

Adding to Ralf's reply"

If the 'other table' is on a different Sheet, and has a Table Name also used for one or more other Tables in the Document, Numbers requires both the Table name AND the Sheet Name of the cell from which the information is to be retrieved.

Following Ralf's instructions will result in the inclusion of that data in the formula if it is needed.

In this example Sheet 1 and Sheet two of the Document each contain two tables. All four tables have their default names, "Table 1" for those created when the sheet was created, Table 2 for the next Table to be created on that sheet.

Here's Sheet 1, showing the formula in cell B2 of Table 1

Here is Sheet 2 of the same document:

Renaming the Tables on Sheet 2…

≥results in this immediate change to the formula in Table 1 of Sheet 1:

Giving each table a meaningful name that is distinct from the names of all other tables in the document makes for shorter addresses in formulas, which in turn makes the formulas easier to read and error check.

"Thanks, that might do what I still could not. I didn't know enough about the terminology to accurately describe my layout."

Asking questions here is one way to learn about specific issues you face with Numbers.

Another source of more general information is the

which you can open by choosing "Numbers Help" in the Help menu in Numbers.

When you get down to the details regarding writing formulas, your friend is the Function Browser. Here you'll find a list of every function supported in Numbers, a description of each function, and at least on example of how to use it in a document.

Funny, I'm just an end user of computers, but I just want to jump through my screen when reading a thread on a question in my hobby of 50 yrs.-reloading for target shooting-where I know a lot that could help.
