Macbook goes black when fans run and not charging

With increasing occurrence, my Macbook Pro 13in will get a black screen and become briefly unresponsive if the fans start running and it is not plugged in to charge (this only seems to happen when the fans run, never any other time). My battery could be at 100% but this still happens. When I plug it in, after about a minute it will chime and turn on again on the lockscreen (it will not turn on until its connected to the charger). I am not sure why this is happening, it hasn't been a problem until the last few months. It is however 4-5 years old, so maybe the battery is wearing out?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 11.6

You neglect to say what exact Mac is this...?

what exact macOS..?

If the Mac is on the fans are running, they idle about ~2000 rpm, they can ramp up to ~6000rpm and will sound like a jet engine at this point...

You can try yourself running the AHT/user Diagnostic...not as definitive as Apple's own AST2 (Apple Service Toolkit) back bench diagnostic, but may kick out an error code.
