2018 Macbook Pro 15" screen failed, Appears to be the cable connecting to logic board.

I have this issue, started failing only sometimes when not fully open (only at a certain angle) then failed like this all the time. Apple in Aventura Mall wants $700 to replace screen. It seems like many people are having the same issue. I love Apple, but this is not my fault, the repairability of this product is Apple or nothing. What do you suggest I do with it?

Hi,

Not much you can do besides weighing the cost of repair against the cost of a replacement computer, and considering the age and expected life span (depends what you do with your Mac) and battery condition and how well you like it overall and want to keep using it. If you like it and it does what it needs to well, you could easily get several more years out of it. Is that worth $700 vs applying that money toward a new computer and having the use of that new computer for that several years (instead of your current one) plus the rest of its life?

In the meantime, make sure you keep a current backup or two (Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner?) so if the screen becomes unusable and you get a new computer, you can access your data, or if you get it repaired and they somehow decide to erase and install.
