Seagate external hard drive not detecting in MacBook Pro

Mates,

Purchased a Seagate External Hard Drive which somehow is not detecting in my Mac. Any drivers I have to install / Check for any settings?

Things I've tried -

  1. Finder - Goto - Utilities - Disk Utility
  2. Finder - Preferences - Checked Hard Disk & External Disks
  3. Terminal - commands Diskutil

Nothing worked

Still unable to detect my hard drive

Though working in

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.3

It's likely the other way around, Mac not detecting the drive.

Did you format it with an Apple format? Many drives come formatted for Windows.

Try a different cable.

Try on a different computer.

You do not need any of the Seagate software. Your Mac already has all you need to use the drive.

What type of Seagate drive exactly?

The 3.5" versions need an external power supply (only smaller 2.5" form factor drives can normally be powered from USB port)

If there is nothing on the drive yet, and you want it only for your Mac to use, re-format the drive to APFS or HFS+

Disk Utility should see the actual drive, but Seagate are usually factory formatted to Windows NTFS and the Mac won't see the NTFS file system.
