HomeKit slow on iMac

My HomeKit is very laggy today on my iMac. Using iPhone Home app or Eve app is much faster (Eve is the fastest, Home app on iPhone is acceptable - short lag). On iMac Eve devices were taking upto 20 seconds to respond to a button click in Home app.

Is there a preferences file or log file(s) that could be deleted to see if it improves performance?

I upgraded one of my Apple TV 4K units to the latest generation (Gen 2) with Thread support, and the Eve devices respond instantly now. Other devices were not previously showing this lag as most were using WIFI not BT communications.

Welcome Sabresoft,

Based on your post, HomeKit is slow to perform on your iMac. We'll do our best to assist with this.

If you haven't yet, we'd recommend restarting your Mac and the network router. Restarting can resolve many issues with performance: Shut down or restart your Mac - Apple Support

Consult, if needed, with your Internet provider on how to reboot the network router. Typically, you disconnect it from power for 1-2 minutes, then reconnect it.

With that said, should the issue persist, then you could try testing this further using safe mode: How to use safe mode on your Mac - Apple Support It is slow to boot here and some functions will not work, but it helps to isolate the issue further. Safe mode will prevent some apps from functioning.

Should it continue, please reply back with the results from safe mode. Also, are you running the latest Monterey version 12.3.1?

Wishing you well, cheers.
