Spam getting past Rules

I have been very aggressive in setting up rules in Mail to ID certain senders and dump those emails into the trash. Mail seems to get most of them. But, one sender (a gmail address, so I can't block just the suffix of the address) has shown up recently and these emails keep getting through no matter how many ways I set up yet another rule to block them. In Monterey, all up to date, etc.

Has anyone else seen anything like this? What is it with this one sender that it keeps slipping through? It's driving me nuts.

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks...

It's the exact same sender, front to back. The only thing that's changing is the subject line.

If the sender is in your Contacts—delete it.

If you responded to this spam, See Mail>Window>"Previous Recipients" and delete it

You would think this would be "Junk" not "Rules"...

(Apple use the term "junk" in macOS not spam)

If Junk mail is not working for you as expected—

If junk mail filters aren’t working in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

Change Junk Mail preferences in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

Reduce junk mail in Mail on Mac - Apple Support

If Junk mail is not working for you as expected you can turn it off in Mail>Preferences.

You have the option of installing a third party spam filter. ex.

None of these suggestions addresses the fact that the email is coming from EXACTLY THE SAME SENDER each time. It appears to be a Russian address (Googled it). I get at least one every day, sometimes more. The Apple filters are just ignoring it. Odd, too, because my email addresses aren't really out in the world very much to being with. I'm convinced this is one of those things where they are targeting Mac addressees, which I something I have experienced before.

I tried this, from above:

"Mail advanced junk mail settings on Mac - Apple Support

Change Junk Mail Advanced settings in Mail on Mac - Apple Support (IN)"

but it appears to simply be another avenue to the custom blocks you can build through the Rules tab.

I guess we'll see if it works.

Thanks to all.

That's all you can do...give it the old college try.

I abandoned "Junk" in Apple's Mail.app over a decade ago, for third party Spamsieve. I will say it has been the single most cost effective one time purchase—including all timely updates for each and every macoS that has come out—with excellent customer support.

I installed it client-side. https://c-command.com/spamsieve/

I also have a robust server side spamfilter that has first shot at it, by greymail.redcondor. I have that daily forward to my Spam folder in the event I need to review it.

I have not been driven nuts since.
