Screen Cracking

For those that are experiencing a “spontaneous” screen that cracks, is it possible that you are sitting on your phone while in your back pocket?

I have recently experienced the same phenomenon and I believe that the cracking was caused by my habit of forgetting that my phone is in my back pocket while sitting for an extended period with jeans.

I've had an OtterBox Defender case for an iPad mini 4 for 4+ years. It's been good, but long-term it's been kind of odd. The membrane over the home button started separating off and eventually I just removed it. The display membrane cover is rather nasty looking now and very hard to clean. It's been dropped a few times and the hard case prevented catastrophic damage, but it did still bend after several falls. Also, the rubber part of the case loosened and the flap over the Lightning port eventually broke off after being used for several years. The rubber is also fitting loosely around the plastic hardshell. It's also super heavy. I don't regret buying it (would have otherwise had busted glass and/or a dented case, but there are some drawbacks to OtterBox Defender compared to just something like a simple one-piece silicone/leather case that fits snugly. Some of my issues were specific to the home button/Touch ID membrane, but some of the other stuff is similar for anything in the Defender series.

Hi there! This can happen and of course, im here to say the best way to prevent this is to get a durable case. Yes, the iPhone is sturdy, but not invincible.
