Hi, everyone.
My MacBook Air M1 (8GB RAM and 250GB SSD drive), a 2020 model running macOS Monterey 12.3.1 uses up a lot of RAM. Even though I only have around 5-8 tabs open in Safari, Outlook, Word, and WhatsApp, the RAM usage is around 6.56GB.
Is this normal or should I be worried?

The high RAM usage is the webpages (over 2GB) you are visiting and all the apps you have open which total over 4 GB! Apple can't address the way you are using your machine.
FWIW, modern webpages have become major memory pigs with all the content they are delivering and massive libraries that need to be downloaded just to display all that content. I was visiting one site site that after about 10 minutes, it had gobbled up almost 1.5 GB!!!
As long as it's in the green, all is well. However, you have a bit of yellow. I'd suspect Chrome Browser; it's a known memory hog. This is one of the reason I use nothing Google. I prefer FireFox as alternate to Safari, but we all have our favorites.

Thank you for your reply. I only have Google Drive installed and decided I will no longer download unrequired applications.
I purchased a subscription to Cleanmymac over the weekend, but disable it from running in the background.

Address what? Mac's are designed to use RAM and use it efficiently. It's the developer's responsibility to make their product work with Apple's OS, hardware and so forth.
The fact Chrome uses a lot of RAM is a Google problem, not Apple.
