Shortcut for switching between windows (macOS Monterey)

This combination of keys works when using the US layout. As already pointed out, the shortcut is actually Command-`

which depending on your layout may not be easy to get (which layout is it, by the way? I am not recognizing it; it seems to be for a Latin language, given the é, but is not Portuguese, Spanish or French).

I have tested a bit more, and I think I have a pretty good idea of what is going on.

In summary, the shortcut works, provided that the active window does not have an editable text.

For example, as I am typing this, I try Command-` in the Portuguese or French keyboard, and it does not work. The effect is to type the accent character.

But if the window does not have an editable text, then it works.

I tested this with a large number of windows in Mail, and it kept working over received e-mail just fine; until it got to a window where I was composing a message. That is when I figured out what is happening.

Check this article in your language to see if there is another shortcut.

The shortcut is different for many of the keyboard layouts.

For a US Keyboard, it would be the key above the tab key. The actual key symbol is the backtick which is on the £ key on your keyboard.

Try using control and arrow keys.

This may have to do with the fact that the grave key by itself is a “dead key”; it did work most of the time for me though. I will test also with the Portuguese keyboard, where the grave key acts similarly to the French keyboard, and will see if it works there.

I tried the French layout, and I see that this combination (marked in red) works:

I don't know why this is happening. I tried the Portuguese, French and Belgian layouts and they all are working for me as I described above.
