If your iPad cannot be powered-on, you’ll not be able to erase or backup the device. However, iPad uses an encrypted file-system, the encryption key required to access the data is also encrypted - itself being protected by your device Passcode.

Without the passcode, nobody (even Apple) can access your data. Whilst ideally you would choose to erase your data before returning it for repair, you should have no concern for the security and privacy of data stored on the device. During repair, the iPad will be routinely wiped/purged of all locally stored (encrypted) data.

It is a little hard to help/advise you when you provide little to NO useful information about your iPad.

Here are my questions to you.

Can you, please, confirm what year and model iPad do you have/own?

The “A” model number can be found on the aluminium back of your iPad, in very small print, right under the larger bold print “iPad” on the back of the iPad.

What iOS/iPadOS version is this iPad, currently, running?

Please try to make an attempt to answer all questions asked.

Thank You.
