How to stop recurrent freezes on iPhone 6 Plus

For the last 3 months my iPhone 6 Plus freezes in the middle of ordinary activities. No new apps have been installed for years. iOS is the latest version, 12.5.5. Performed system reset but that did not help. Thanks.

iPhone 6 Plus is an outdated iPhone (9 september 2014), > 7 years old, which also affects the battery life. That may be the cause of the problem.

It is possible to have the battery replaced, the battery can be replaced by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

FYI, replaced the battery and freezing no longer occurs. Unfortunately two other problems, which I'd hoped to be related to worn out battery, have persisted: failure of Maps to load directions and failure of Siri to answer questions when we are not using Wi-Fi. Siri says: "I'm having trouble with the connection. Please try again in a moment." I suppose both could be due to this phone being 3G only. Will call our cellular company, Consumer Cellular.
