How can you lock the keyboard to allow for cleaning (wiping)?

Newer Macbooks appear to power-on from a powered off state when any key is pressed on the keyboard. How can the keyboard be effectively locked to allow for cleaning?

How much cleaning does your keyboard need? On our Notebooks I just use a very soft bristle brush, my wife paints, to wipe away debris then a few very light swipes with a slightly water dampened microfiber cloth. Usually I just drag the cloth over the keyboard letting its weight do the job.

If I were getting it so dirty it needed scrubbing, I'd use one of those ultra thin membrane KB covers when operating. I don't close the lid on the one I have not wanting to strain the hinge. But I don't use it at all mostly as the KB only accumulates very light dust a quick blast of air from maybe a foot away will usually work.
