Headphones turn down volume when I’m outside sometimes

Sometimes when I’m walking outside my headphones proceeds to turn the volume all the way down. I’ve been reading some different awnsers anout the problem but no one describes my problem completely. I’ve had these headphones for a while, they got this lightning connection but the seem to need bluetooth and when I connect them with bluetooth it says they are those wireless beats headphones that they definitely aren’t. Sometimes when I’m walking outside the volume goes to 0 and stsys there and I feel this mini vibration all the time when it goes down. Right now when I’m sitting on the train they work fine and I’m listening to music right now. I think it’s something wrong with my phone and the light or something because they usually only turn itself down when its sun outside…

Thank you for those details, benji136.

To confirm it sounds as though you're using a wired headset not a bluetooth headset. Are you using Apple EarPods that came with your iPhone or a third-party headset, and does the headset have volume control buttons on the cable? If so, do you notice if those buttons are being pressed and are you able to turn the volume back up?

If you go in to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Headphone Safety, does Reduce Loud Sounds have a green checkmark? If so, tap the check mark to disable that feature and test to see if the volume continues to turn down. You can find more information about Headphone Safety via the following link.

We look forward to your response!

Hey benji136,

Got it. To isolate this issue further, are you able to test your EarPods with another device or different headphones with your iPhone?

You could also see if restarting your iPhone could help: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support Restarting can seem like a simple step, but it can sometimes help resolve issues. You'll also want to ensure that your iPhone is fully updated, as that can sometimes help resolve issues too: Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Let us know how those steps go or if you've already tried those.

Take care.

I’m not even using beats and I cant chose between wired and wireless, the biggest fact I forgot to mention is that I don’t have beats at all just normal earbuds but when I connect them to bluetooth via lightning. I am not seeing a message at all and it did not happen when i used my old headphones with an adapter. And it cant be that its something with the charger output because the volume only turns down when I’m walking in the sun I now realized. I walked on a rainy day outside and they worked fine.

It’s not the apple earpods that came with the phone but it’s basically the same model, they look identical. And yes, I am using wired earpods I mistyped in the other reply. The thing is that they don’t work without bluetooth even though they are not bluetooth at all. Because the lightning mode goes through bluetooth. So when I connect them it says that it is wireless beats which means my phone recognize it as completely different headphones. And yes it had that adjustable thing on the cable where the microphone is aswell but I don’t touch it at all. And when my headphones are turning the volume down when I’m listening to music etc I need to fight for my life to get it up to the same level of sound and sometimes I click too fast and get too high volume which is EXTREMELY frustrating. And I have tried thst safe mode thing as you said earlier but it does not change anything because when I’m inside it’s completely fine with highest volume..
