Why does Apple no longer display photos in chronological order? When I take pictures on three subsequent days they are shown in chronological order on my iPhone, But when I download to my MacBook Air (Monterey) the chronological order is completely random.

I'm running Photos 4, so not sure about Photos 7. In photos 4 the pics are sorted by oldest first in the library. In an album you can sort by Title, Oldest First, or Newest First. In a Smart album you can set the rule to sort by Date Added or Date Captured.

It depends on where you are viewing the photos as to how they can be sorted. See the following screenshot:
What view are you using?
Try the All Photos view or the imports view.
Are you viewing them in the photos app? Or in a folder using finder?
