Disconnect and prevent Microsoft from synching contacts with iPad personal contacts

How do I prevent Outlook and all linked Microsoft apps from automatically syncing with my private contacts?

I have been unable to separate the two and have been unable to unlink them. If I delete a personal contact in Outlook, it also deletes the contact on my Mac, iPhone and iPad. The Microsoft account is purely for work with a different login than my Apple accounts, but it still harvests all my contacts and I have not found anyway to prevent this. It never asked for permission to do this and the only way I can stop anyone seeing them is to make them private in Outlook.

Although that is a workaround, I don't want them in Outlook in the first place, so how do I fix this?

I have been searching online for this and can't find any useable answers.

Any help will be appreciated.

John

Thanks Deggie.

I am part of the admin team for Microsoft 365 at work and we can't find anywhere where you unlink or prevent the private contacts from being synced in Outlook.

It doesn’t matter whether I look in the Exchange admin console or on Azure, there is no obvious method to solve the problem.

My Mac is not on the domain, although I am signed into a Microsoft account and files sync with OneDrive and SharePoint, so is that in itself causing the problem?

Can you provide some insight into this and perhaps point me in the right direction?

many thanks
