How to disable dictionary

I've followed the instructions in a previous post that is now closed and it didn't work. Is there another way to do this besides the System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > Services? Or is there a way to disable the dictionary altogether? It causes way more annoyances than convenience.
