Apple Watch spyware

I received a text telling me my battery wasn’t charging as quickly because I had spyware and virus that deleted some of my photos and files.

is that possible or is it spam

That would be "spam." Please refer to Recognize and avoid phishing messages, phony support calls, and other scams.
