Phone number on new phone

I have a new phone and I’m the process of moving data from phone to phone my phone number stopped working and I don’t know how to turn it back on

What do you mean the phone number is stuck on loading? A phone number does not load. Are you trying to activate iMessage possibly? If that is the case and you cannot use your phone number there, then see this. If you can’t turn on or sign in to iMessage or FaceTime - Apple Support

That has to do with your carrier. Did you swap the SIM from your old phone, or did you have your carrier activate a new SIM? Check with your carrier to see what is activate for your number. They control that.

In settings and you go to “messages” it says “send a receive” and the you click on the and it gives you options and my phone number is one of them. But it is supposed to do a check mark but it has just been loading for over an hour.

I'm here again, however if you are unable to get your phone number checked, then it is not activating correctly. Use the Get Support link at the top of the page here to contact Apple Support if you have already followed all of the steps in the first link I provided you.
