Repeat function in Shortcuts

Can you have a Shortcut repeat “X” number of times with “X” being a variable set as input? In other words, can I tell Siri to repeat a shortcut the number of times that I say?

Bill ~ Yes. Create a custom shortcut as shown below which will be triggered by "Hey Siri, <name of shortcut>". So in this example say: "Hey Siri, repeat this." Then Siri will ask "How many times?" and you can say, for example "Three".

  • To set up the "Repeat" action, do a long press on its initial "1 time" parameter.
  • From the pop-up, choose "Select Magic Variable".
  • Tap on "Provided Input" which should appear below the "Ask for" action.
