iPad Air 2022 problems with Bluetooth

Hi - just got the brand new IPad Air 2022 - but it won’t connect via Bluetooth to my iPhone 11 or to Sony headphones.

Q 1. Should it connect to older Bluetooth devices? That’s the main Q. Ie it has latest v of Bluetooth but is this backwards compatible?

Q2. If so any ideas as to what might be the problem ?

it Recognises the iPhone but says it cannot connect.

it once recognised the headphones but now doesn’t recognise them. I am pressing the right pairing button on the headphones and a pairing light is flashing.

Fixed- thank you - discovery/ pairing is different on Sony devices. This one was to hold power button for 7 secs.

Many thanks!

The iPad will not pair to the iPhone, it is not designed to do that. That is by design. If you are experiencing a problem with pairing the headphones, check the manual for the headphones and make sure that you are putting them into discovery/pairing mode. Generally requires you to press and hold the power button until you see a blinking power light.
