Can't join CD tracks

I was in the process of importing an audio book into itunes. I was successful in joining the CD tracks on the first 2. After getting the CD track names for the 3rd CD I went to the "Join CD Tracks" it was not available. How do I enable this option?

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

I am no expert but I think I caused the problem/glitch when I de selected tracks to separate them on an album of poetry. Tried all suggested on various forums but eventually went back to that cd made sure its tracks were in ascending order and the problem was fixed when I joined them. All other cds now joining as well.

I found this posted on another site (http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/join-cd-tracks-option-not-app earing-in-itunes-11), and it is exactly what you recommend, and it works!

"The bottom line is always make sure that you’re sorting by the first column—track number—in ascending order, and that you have selected two or more contiguous tracks and the Join CD Tracks option should appear.

Note that you can even join multiple sets of contiguous tracks, however in order to do this, each group must be selected and joined individually, using the Join CD Tracks option separately for each one."
