Power off MacBook Pro with keyboard command

Now that the "eject" key has been replaced with the "Power/Fingerprint" key is it possible to Shut Down without having to use the Apple menu "Shutdown"? Not a biggie but just a habit. Thanks, David

I marked this as solved by mistake. I still do not understand the response.

if you can not find the Terminal.app in your Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app

From your spotlight search:

copy & paste the keyboard command line as posted above:

 sudo shutdown -r now

(note: your psswd will not echo on screen type it in anyway, use the enter\return key to continue)

I gert the terminal and the cut and paste but to what end? What happens then? That is what I am confused about.

how far do your get?

I see now the -r flag is for a shutdown and "reboot"

The -h flag is for "halt"— so this is more better, copy and paste:

 sudo shutdown -h now

did you enter your password? I can only assume this works on your Intel Mac like my Intel Mac

Thanks but I was hoping there was a key command that I was missing. I would just as soon not mess around with Terminal. Also I am using a M1 Max. I appreciate your help. Best, David

suit yourself....

It would still apply to your M1 Max, nothing changes there, the shutdown command is as old as the hills:

 sudo shutdown -h now

you can read more from the man page in Terminal.app , copy and paste:

man shutdown | more
