Apple Music PlayStation 5 no sound

Hi,

Whenever I open the Apple Music app on PlayStation 5 all sound stops and I can’t listen to anything from the app or elsewhere. As soon as I close the app sound starts up again.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the app a number of times. I’ve reset my PlayStation and completely switched off everything and turned back on. I’ve been through all settings and can’t see anything that would cause this to happen. Is there a solution you can recommend to fix this?

Yes I did all this already. This doesn’t help. Sony said to talk to you and you said to talk to Sony. All I want is to be able to hear music played by your app on PlayStation 5. Why is this so hard?

Hello Drummanmatt,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

Do you have an active Apple Music subscription and did you link the account following the steps here? https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/subscriptions/set-up-apple-music/

How to download the Apple Music app on PS5™ consoles

  1. Select All Apps from your media home.
  2. Select Apple Music Download.
  3. Launch the Apple Music App.
  4. Select Sign up or Log in and enter your details.
  5. Follow the prompts to link your accounts.

Also, make sure you're in a supported region. The list can be found in that article above, "Which countries/regions support Apple Music on PS5 consoles?"

Additionally, if you are subscribed and linked your account, did you try checking the media sources? https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/subscriptions/how-to-stream-music-and-podcasts-on-ps5-consoles/

  1. "Press the PS button to open the control center and select Music.
  2.  Select a song, album, playlist, or podcast and then select Play to play it.
  3. The music or podcast that is playing appears as a card in the control center. You can use playback functions such as pause, fast forward, and fast rewind.
  • To switch between music streaming services, select Music sources.
  •  Use your wireless controller or the dedicated media remote (CFI-ZMR series, sold separately) to control playback functions. Playback button assignments for your wireless controller appear on the card of the media being played.
  •  Experience enhanced sound for your music and podcasts by customizing your audio output device settings, choosing your preferred volume level, and more."

You may need to reach out to Sony for further help with this.

Cheers!
