Power Adapter for MacBook

I am recharging a newly bought replacement battery. The AC charger is blinking green/amber intermittently.

What does this mean?

MacBook, macOS 10.12

With the computer on and at desktop. Go to the top menu bar and check the change rate. Make sure charge rate is checked. Also by holding down the option key while clicking on the battery icon will show battery condition. You can also go to the Apple (About this Mac) System report -power and check the charge rate. When you originally put the battery in, did you put the hod down screws back in the same places they came out of. In case one was longer than the others. Also now that it will turn on try the SMC and Nvram again.

Did this happen with the battery plugged in or unplugged? Were you having a power on problem and that is why you got a new battery? You charge light on the Mag Safe should be either amber or green. Depending on if it is charging or is completely charged. If the Mag Safe power supply is working, your computer should turn on without the battery connected.

Hi my ginger,

Thank you for following me in this!

The original battery had become completely dead over the years. I purchased this replacement battery, but I couldn’t get it to start the computer, and I couldn’t get the power adapter to charge it. I tried all kinds of start up procedures suggested by both you and tjk, with the battery connected and also not connected. Finally, I tried starting it up with the replacement battery connected, but without the screws put in. To my surprise, it started up! I let the computer load up, which displayed a low battery warning. I shut the computer down properly, and attached the power adapter so that I can charge the new battery up,

The only weird thing now is that the adapter is showing solid green which would indicate a fully charged battery. I know this is not true, and I wonder if the battery is truly recharging.

Do you have a comment about this condition?

Thank you!
