AirPods 3 Owner/location tracking

I bought a pair of AirPods 3 from a friend and my friend is still the owner connected to the AirPods from her original purchase. How do I change the owner to my iPhone so they can’t see it’s location?

Scroll to: Return AirPods to factory settings
Proceed from there as necessary
