I don’t see an option to report spam text messages from individuals not in my contacts!
Yes, that is why. These spam SMS sent via an email address have to be blocked by your carrier. They cannot be blocked by the iPhone. This is the latest trick that spammers are using to flood users with garbage.
You can use the same Block Contact area, just instead of it being a contact, you just enter the phone number. Block, filter, and report messages on iPhone - Apple Support
Sorry but your reply makes no sense. Today I received a text from ***@gmail.com and 20 other phone numbers. I had previously blocked the phone numbers and proceeded to block the email but there was no option to report the spam. Is this because it was not sent from an Apple device???

ChrisJ4203 I received a spam text message from a gmail user attached to 20 other phone numbers. I had already blocked the numbers but when blocking the email I saw no option to report the obvious spam.
is this because it was not sent from an Apple device? If so the report spam feature really is useless.
