" trying to update to Monterey " This is not an update if the computer is presently running Big Sur. This is a upGrade.
What version of Big Sur is installed now ?
UpGrading or attempting to upGrade to Monterey with a computer that is not fully up-to-date is risky.
The current version of Big Sur is version 11.6.5 and it is suggested that issue be considered before attempting the Monterey upGrade.
