Iphone 12 pro portrait mode not working

My iPhone 12 pro gets stuck in portrait mode. If I want to take a picture (at 1x zoom) it tries one second to focus and then it stucks in a blurry screen. At 2x zoom it works sometimes (but not always). When I close the camera app the camera shows a black screen after that. Can someone help me?

Portrait mode freezes My wife's phone keeps freezing in portrait mode. Regular video or photo mode is fine but when you switch to portrait mode, if you change the focus from whatever it is when you move to it (from 1x to 2.5x or vice versa), the image blurs and then it freezes. You can swipe back to regular photo mode but the "view finder" will will be black. Only way to get control of the camera app back is to force quit the app then reopen. A reboot and a forced reboot doesn't solve the problem. She's on 16.2 but it was happening before - apparently a few months now and I'm just now being told. Any ideas?

Portrait mode camera won't load x1 mode Portrait mode camera won't load x1 mode If I open my camera app and swipe onto the portrait mode it by default is showing x2. If I tap on the x2 in the bottom left corner to take it into x1, then the camera blurs and never comes back on again. The green light at the top of my phone also switches off (indicating the camera is no longer active), and if music is playing it will stop. The x1 view works in all other camera modes, it's only the portrait mode where it doesn't work. I've reset my phone but still no luck.

If that didn’t help, then try the following:

▷ Turn iPhone on or off.

▷ Force Restart iPhone.

If that didn’t work, get expert service and support at the Genius Bar.

Click ▶︎ Start a Repair Request.
