iPhone 8 Toyota CarPlay issue

Hi,

My wife has just bought a 2022 Toyota C-HR and is suffering with a 10-15 second lag on calls through her wireless CarPlay unit. The vehicle has been checked for the latest firmware and her phone has the latest iOS on it. My iPhone 12 Pro seems to work fine without any lag on it. I have tried a soft reset on the phone but it’s still an issue, her previous car (Peugeot 207cc) didn’t have any issues on normal Bluetooth.


The phone connects ok, Amazon music is fine, maps and phone book are also there it’s just the call lag which is making it impossible to use. Any help/ideas appreciated 🤞

You've taken some great steps to isolate things further. Sounds like the issue is specific to her phone, and only with calling functions. This could potentially indicate an issue with the network connection over cellular data to her iPhone, so get started by disconnecting from CarPlay and making a test call. If the call works fine in the car, without CarPlay, but the issues start up again once reconnected to CarPlay, test things out with a wired connection. Do you still experience the same behavior when doing so?


Also, you mentioned a "soft reset", however what specific steps did you take when you did this?


Lastly, she may want to complete remove the device from her car's Bluetooth device list and pair it again and test further.
