i accidentally downloaded something from a sketchy website, it downloaded to my files from safari and I want to know how to check if i have gotten a virus or ways to defend

Macs can’t get viruses.
Did you enter a password to authorize an install?

Ok thanks and no i didn’t enter a password but it was in my files i had to delete it
