Cannot open some files

I bought myself a new Macbook Pro (14-inch, 2021) last week running OS monterey vs 12.3.1.

All my files are synchronized via a NAS to my Macbook and a Windows desktop.

On my new Mac, I cannot open any pdf file...not even with my Adobe Acrobat DC. Other pdf software and readers do not work either. On my previous Macbook pro 2018 (Big Sur) I had no problem at all. Also on my WinDesktop this works.

Also some excel files cannot be opened.

Who knows what's the problem?

MacBook Pro (2020 and later)

A - Was Migration Assist Used on the first time setup of the New 14" MBP M1 computer ?

B - If so, what was Migrated ?

1 - Suggest restarting in Safe Mode. This will perform a Disk Repair, clear cache files and only load Apple Software, extensions and fonts. The boot up will be slow and can take some time - Normal.

2 - Sometimes a Safe Boot followed by a Normal Boot will just put things right.

Update....

Restart in Safe Mode... and I could open the files

Restart normal... unbelievable... everything works fine... Until now I can open my powerpoint, excel, JPG and PNG files.

Cannot figure out what happened🤪... but thank you all for the help!!!!

3 - Does the issue present in this mode ?

4 - If not - there could be something in the main User Account playing up. To further isolate this - Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac. Then log out of the Main User account and log into the dummy account and test again if the issue persists.

5 - If the issue is present in the dummy account - then, this appears to be a System Wide issue on the computer.

6 - If after performing each of the above steps is the order that have been presents  and still have issues - please advise for possible further assistance.

Is this a new problem or was the Mac working properly at first?

What system changes and/app installations did you make just prior to the problem's start? Some 3rd party apps just don't play well; try uninstalling WinDeskTop and restarting to see if that's the problem. Monterey is not fully supported by all apps that will install.

Do you have installed any AV, fixer, cleaner or optimizer apps? If so uninstall the all using the developer's instructions, restart and retest.

It's a new Mac with Monterey preinstalled.

I only installed an official office 365 (word, excel, powerpoint) from App Store + Adobe Acrobat DC Pro

I did not install any AC, fixer, cleaner or optimizer installed

I noticed today that even some JPG and PNG files I cannot open.

With Qsync the files are synced on my Mac. Files that I could open on my previous Mac, I cannot open on the new Mac
