Hey guys,
I cannot update to the latest OS Monterey. Will upgrading hardware such as the main drive on my 2012 iMac resolve this issue?

macOS Catalina 10.15.7
iMac 27-inch, Late 2012
Processor 3.2GHz Quad Core i5
Memory 16 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1G

No. That model can't be upgraded past Catalina.

The Late 2012 iMac originally came with macOS 10.8 Mountain Lion and 10.15 Catalina is the highest that it can go.
You should understand that what operating system your Mac can accept is not dependent on changing the HD. The limitation is due to the way the system was engineered and the various components it has installed.
Gosh, so it’s more than just simply replacing hardware components on my Mac. Man... Why would Apple build a system that non-upgradable...
