Airpods Dying in Case Overnight

My Airpod Pros are dying in the case overnight. They are seated properly and the case is charged as I've been checking each day to make sure that's not the problem. Occasionally, there is a different problem where they behave like they're dead when I take them out of the case, but if I plug in the case in and put the Airpods in it for less than 10 seconds, they come out fully charged and working fine.

Are they just old and going bad already? I've had them for about 2 years I think.

Thank you
