Apple Watch Series 7

I am currently looking to switch from my Fitbit to the Apple Watch 7, however, I do not want to connect a cell line. I want to make sure it will connect to my iPhone 12 via Bluetooth for call answering and txt messaging (both sending and receiving). I understand that using the bluetooth the phone must be near by.
