How to use amazon website instead of amazon app

I have amazon app installed and at times the experience that I expect is not what I get. To test the experience I would like to open amazon in a web browser.

Whenever I do this the app opens instead of the web page. I would like to separate the two actions. When I open amazon in the browser I expect to use amazon in the browser. When I open amazon in the app I expect to use the app.

There should be no action filtering my requests. This is not expected behavior and it is a nuisance.

How do we set-up the phone to prevent these two separate action from being given over to the app?

It may matter from where and how you open the Amazon website in Safari. Try any of the following:

If trying to open the Amazon website from an Internet search result in Safari, tap and hold on a link, then tap Open in New Tab. Tapping the link or tapping Open may open the app instead.

While on the Amazon website in Safari, add a bookmark from the Share menu. To launch the Amazon website, tap the bookmark button in Safari’s toolbar at screen bottom, navigate to the bookmark you created, then tap it.

While on the Amazon website in Safari, add a bookmark from the Share menu to Safari’s Favorites folder. This will add an icon on the Start Page. Tap the icon to open Amazon in Safari. The Start Page will be accessible when you create a new tab, or tap in Safari’s address/search bar.

Add a bookmark to the Home Page. While on the Amazon website in Safari, tap the Share button, tap Add to Home Screen, edit the name, then tap Done. Tap the icon on the Home Page to launch the Amazon website in Safari. The bookmark will show in search results when doing search from the Home Page.

An alternative to a Safari bookmark on the Home Screen, with slightly less web browser chrome, is to create a web app using the URL App shortcut. Launch it as with any other app. It will show in search results when doing search from the Home Page.

Removing the app is not an option as I would re-install it when I finished testing and testing is going to happen a lot.

The best option was to enter private browsing.

Try this:

Open the Safari browser and navigate to any website.

Once the website loads, click the “aA” icon available at the top or bottom but positioned before the address bar. It opens the website view menu.

From the available options, choose the “Request Desktop Website” option.

I am seeing it matters how I try to open amazon in web browser.

When I tap link from search results the app opens.

When I tap and hold I am given option on how to handle opening and the results of my action there allows the browser to display amazon.

When I type amazon.com in the address bar the browser displays the page

Before I have tried to do what you suggest and had no success. It is not possible to intervene in the process once the process is in motion to open the app.

Today I read your post and open any webpage select setting to request desktop and try to open amazon and success.

However, today I can open amazon in chrome, safari, brave all without a regard for the setting wether in the browser or the iphone settings. I do not know what gives. I will keep prodding along taking mental notes as I go and learn. I will check back once in a while to update this post.

I really appreciate you time and consideration. Now I am moving forward instead of stagnating on this user issue. Thank you very much.
