when I open the Amazon app on my iPhone it states there is no internet connection (which is not true) , yet the app works fine on my iMac and iPad

In that case, delete the app and re-install it. If that doesn't resolve the issue, you're going to need to contact Amazon.

Have you checked Settings>Amazon to make sure that cellular data is enabled?
