Cable for iPad Air 5th Gen

I just purchased a new iPad Air 5th Gen. The cable that it comes with includes a power adapter and a USB-C male. I have USB outlets in my kitchen, and I want to know if I can get a USB-A male to USB-C male and use that to charge the iPad Air 5. Would it take longer or possibly damage the iPad? Thanks.
