How to shuffle music and podcasts together?

Now that iTunes is gone on the new OS versions (and everything before Catalina is no longer supported by brew and other tools), is there any way to shuffle music and podcasts together *and* still sync with old Apple devices like iPod nanos?

If the answer is no, it's time to return to Windows after a couple decades of being a Mac user. They've completely deprecated my preferred way of consuming media.
