This card is already in wallet

I'm trying to add a new credit card to Wallet on my iPhone 11 (iOS 15.4.1). I entered it once and it appeared in Wallet but I didn't yet have the security code yet so I removed the card. When I tried to re-add it with the security code the error message "This card is already in your wallet" keeps appearing. The card does not appear in Wallet. I tried removing all Wallet items from the through Apple ID and iCloud on my iPhone and re-adding it but the same message appears. I'm able to re-add all my other cards without issue.

Re: MrHoffman. Yes.

Solutions tried (none have worked) :

  1. Restart iPhone
  2. Sign in to iCloud.com, remove all items from Wallet
  3. Sign-out and sign-in Apple ID
  4. Wait 5-7 days for item to be completely deleted (per Apple Support). This solution is pending.

It’s july 9th 2022 and I’m dealing with this situation rn. I tried everything u u tried to fix it and it didn’t work.

I get paid on the card I’m trying to add it’s a virtual card and sadly the card doesn’t work in any other wallet. I’m doomed . I even tried to add it to somebody else’s wallet. My conclusion that it’s obviously them . It’s sad that they don’t know how to fix their own issues. Ive talked to many technical support people from apple and from the card company. No real solution my money is stuck

SOLUTION FOUND:

To recap for any who may be experiencing the same issue:

The problem occurred when trying to re-add a previously removed credit card back to the iPhone Wallet app and receiving a "This Card Is Already In Your Wallet" message (see comment history above). The ultimate solution was not a technical one but rather to cancel the credit card directly with the credit card issuer and have them send me a new card with a new card number (your credit card account obviously stays the same). Keep in mind depending on your credit card company or bank most issuers will expedite a new card to you if you request it. I received a the new card overnight and was able to add it to the Wallet app with no issues.

Hey TheJayDoe, yes it was a real time waster going back and forth about a month between Apple Support and the credit card issuer. Neither had an applicable solution that could be resolved from their end.

If you're willing and able just have your bank/credit card company issue you a new card (with a new number) and ask them to expedite shipment to you if possible for overnight or 2-day delivery. Your money of course remains your own regardless if the Wallet app doesn't work. Once I received the new card it added easily to Wallet and the original card simply deactivated and is probably still floating around in the Apple wallet Phantom Zone like General Zod and his crew.

Best of luck to you. ;)

UPDATE: In speaking with Apple Phone Support they said that although the card does not appear in Wallet (despite the "already in wallet" error message) I may have to wait 5-7 days for the card to be completely removed from the Wallet app before I can attempt to re-add it. So I will try to re-enter the card in 5-7 days and see it that is successful.

UPDATE 5/18/22: After speaking at length with Apple support and directly with the credit card issuer over the last 10 days the issue was not resolved and the "This card is already in your wallet" message still appeared when trying to re-add the removed card at the time of this update. The solution was to deactivate the credit card today and have the issuer send a new card with a new card number which I will then add to the Wallet app. Hopefully this will resolve the issue.
