Monterey not allowing Books to read pdf

Hey everyone,

I used to be able to open a pdf in Books directly. Now, the pdf appears in my library, but if I want to read it, it opens the file in adobe instead, thus losing all the functionality one might want by reading a book in Books (bookmarks, keeping your place, etc.)

Changing the default app doesn't help, because it is technically Books that is opening it, but it redirects once you go to actually read it. I didn't use to have this problem and it doesn't happen on my iPhone. Any ideas?
