Hi,
my power button is broken and I use assistive touch for screenshots, restarts, lock phone, etc. For downloading apps I am required to double tap the power button. However, to turn this feature off I am required to double tap the power button (as seen in the photo) which I cannot do since my power button is broken.

We can clarify that. There is no additional workaround. You will need to have a working Side Button to enable this feature. To get the button repaired, you can use the link the community previously provided or here it is your convenience: Apple - Find Locations - Location Selector.
