Deleting icons on apple watch

Just got an apple watch SE and do not want all the icons on the dock. Even though they show up in the "Do Not Include" list, they still show up in the dock. Went to my iphone and they are clearly listed in Do Not Include, yet still show up in the watch's dock. How do I delete them on the watch?

Ok, is this from the list view of the apps on the watch itself as I tried that and thought I had removed a few, by swiping left and then x'ing out, but when I look at the apps in the grid view, where you see them all at once, it doesn't work. They are still there. On my iphone in the watch app, they are in the do not include list but still show up. Are those icons just always there, period? Sorry to sound dumb about this. Nothing I do seems to remove them from the grid view.

Ok, I don't mean to be obtuse. I want to get rid of some of the icons I see when I am in grid view. I read one fix, which was also the one you gave me...in list view on the watch, I left swiped and then clicked on the X. However, my goal is to remove the icon itself from the whole group of icons when I'm in GRID view. I want to reduce the icons I see in grid view. I tried left swiping in the list view..delete it...but when I switch back to the grid view, the app I deleted is still there with its icon. Is there a way to just not see so many icons in grid view.
