security of Apple ID on work computer

My employer just updated my hardware from an old to a new Mac 24" desktop. I'm tempted to treat it just as I do my MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and iPhone Pro, using my Apple ID to access my Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Safari, and other files on iCloud, and to work with them on my work Mac.

But I'd worked that my employer may have installed security software that would allow them to access my files, copy my keystrokes.

Should I worry about this; could an employer do that? They did use the Mac before I did, and could have installed any number of programs.

An employer could do that since it is their computer. If you are concerned about them accessing your files, create a new work Apple ID.

Apple ID - Could Not Create or Could Not Set Up iCloud message. *

If they have installed the monitoring software on the computer, a VPN, accessing iCloud, and the other items you suggested are still going to be monitored.

You are welcome. You can go through Applications to see if there are installed applications you don't recognize, but they may have installed hidden software that won't show there.

I fear I know the answers, but asking to be sure: might someone worried about employer access to files (and keystrokes, passwords) associated with one's Apple ID via Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Mail, Calendar, Contacts, etc. be able to circumvent employer access by either using a VPN, or by accessing all the above via iCloud using the Private tablet in Safari browser and, say, DuckDuckGo? Trying to be creative here as setting up a different Apple ID and distinguishing between work and other files in iCloud is proving to be unworkable for me.

Eric: Thank you for both of your answers. Now a question that I'm not sure any of us can answer: is there a way I can tell whether they've installed monitoring software? I could always ask, and in the past I'd trust 'em, but not given more recent info I've received, unfortunately.
