Hi Stillscotson,
There are several reasons why you may not be hearing sounds. Is the Mute switch enabled for your device? Our article How to put your iPhone on vibrate, ring, or silent mode shows how that can be enabled or disabled. Another reason may be that you have a Focus enabled that prevents such sounds.
