No Double Tap in macOS Monterey

I recently purchased a MacBook Air with M1, and Monterey was preinstalled. However, double-tapping doesn't work on the system. I can't double tap on the top bar in apps such as Firefox to drag & drop it. I cannot double tap on the desktop in order to select multiple items.

What can be causing this issue & why would this occur?

This has never happened on any other Apple notebook, or any other macOS.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.3

Is dragging enabled in Accessibility system prefs, Pointer Control, Trackpad options?
