macos to monterey 12.3.1 - first a black screen then error-10673

Just updated to macos monterey 12.3.1 - first a black screen which Ive corrected and now error-10673 when I try to open links to websites or links from emails. Also websites are not recognising my user ID? - this is not functional - what is the fix please?

FWIW, Normally I wouldn't use, or even install Chrome. However, seeing so many others do I decided to install it on one of my Macs. I do not get the error message with the current version of Chrome set as the default browser.
