At the top it says it is taking up 21 GB but if you add together all of the documents theres only like 2.5 GB worth of actual data.
Theres nothing else to say, help me out here im very confused.

It sounds like you want to know more about what Documents & Data mean on your screenshot. We know how important this is for you, and you’re in the right place for answers. Documents & Data is the total of all your apps not just the Messages app. Hope that answers your question.

I have this problem too, but my messages says 15.24gb is documents and data
But your explanation doesn’t make sense. My documents and data is displayed for other apps under each one, within the WhatsApp storage part for example is only 991.4mb for documents and data.
if as you say it’s ALL my documents and data from ALL apps, it literally makes no sense that my whole phones documents and data storage shows under my messages. When it is also displayed in each app?
Why not leave it with each app so we can actually see the biggest problem, or even list a documents and data storage separately.
Imessages taking up 20 GB of space but documents only adds up to about 2 GB
