How can I delete photos from Icloud, but not my Mac?

Hello!

I would like to free up storage on my iCloud. How can I delete photos from iCloud, but ensure that the deleted iCloud photos are not deleted from my Mac? When I delete iCloud photos, does that automatically delete the photos from my library photos too? My goal is to free up iCloud space, but not delete the photos permanently from my Mac storage - any tips on how to achieve that would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
