Apple Watch won’t update, app won’t open

My Apple Watch won’t update, says I’m not connected to the Internet but both watch and phone are connected via Wi-Fi. I tried to troubleshoot and find out what version of Apple Watch I have, now I can’t get into the Apple Watch app on my phone, The only options I have a two pair the watch or locate it… So frustrated!
