How to get my iPod touch repaired?

How do I get it repaired?

Slipped on road while biking and it will not turn on. Does not appear to have any outside damage.

would there be a basic charge to have it looked at the Apple store? It has no warranty.

iPod Touch Reairs My iPod Touch is 2 years old today. It has been lightly used (not used mostly) and does not have a scratch on it. The battery is swollen and needs to be replaced. I may have purchased AppleCare. How can I get it repaired? Is there a serial number checker online to determine if it is eligible for service? BTW - not happy such an expensive item is worthless after so little use. Not happy at all.
